Yiying is a Vancouver-based multidisciplinary artist working across sound design, electronic music, live performance, digital visual art, and textile installation/costume design. Their work transforms physical materials in living environments, seamlessly blending sound and visuals through digital forms.
While components of multimedia art are generally time-based and ephemeral, Yiying incorporates tangible, even textile components to enhance participants’ experiences. Their integrated practice of sound design with 3D animation and visual programming software cultivates complete immersion in otherworldly space.
Yiying’s conversational processes have the residual effect of enriching their immediate community. As a curator, they are one of the driving forces behind the Fountains network. In combination with multimedia programming, the platform offers technical workshops for emerging artists, which has steadily expanded the scene as more people gain access to advanced creative tools.
