Simon Grefiel

Workshop / Panel Discussion

Simon Grefiel (he/they) is a multidisciplinary artist whose artistic and curatorial practices encompass both visual arts and music. He explores Southeast Asian and Pacific histories, creating and curating works that explore experimental and marginalized cultural practices.

He also explores music under the moniker 'Gulod Tanawin' alongside collaborator Reylinn McGrath, where they create music that blends electronic, Southeast Asian grassroots techno, dub, traditional sounds, ceremony, and Filipino martial arts.

A native Waray-Waray speaker born in Tacloban City, Philippines, Grefiel chas been travelling across Southeast Asia, Vancouver, and in Montreal, Canada. His work has been exhibited and screened at prominent venues such as the Vancouver Art Gallery, Libby Leshgold Gallery in Vancouver, and Gallery TPW in Toronto.
